The Key To Success? Fan The Flames

It’s Sunday morning and we are getting ready to go to church. The kids are eating breakfast and hubby and I are about to have our early morning cup of tea. I hand him his cup and I sit down to mine. He takes one sip, makes a face then askes, “Babe, no sugar?”

I tasted mine and it was just fine. Just the right amount of milk and sugar. The way I like it. Then it occurred to me, I added everything to his that I did to mine but I forgot to stir it. I stood, walked back to the kitchen and got a spoon. “I did put sugar, sorry I forgot to stir it.”

He stirred it, took a sip and it was just right. Like mine, the full potential of the tea came out and was able to do his taste buds justice just as mine had done for me.Inside each on of us is a gift. A special gift that God has placed inside of us to be used to fulfill our purpose. In case you are wondering with all this purpose talk going around, purpose is simply the reason why you were created.

If you do not stir up the gifts inside you, there is no way you can find that thing that you were called to do and pursue it with the passion it deserves. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2nd Timothy 1:6-7

Paul tells us to FAN the flames. I’m telling you to stir the pot. The only way to do this and get the right results is by intimacy with Jesus. Ask Him to show you the way. And when you get an answer, your charge is to move! Step boldly into what you are called to do. When you get to where you can’t move any more…God steps in. But none of this will be possible if you don’t fan the flames of your spiritual gifts.

Failure to stir your pot can often times lead to resentment of those that stir theirs. I would like to encourage you today not to succumb to fear which has a tendency to hold us back. Be intentional about fanning the flames of your spiritual gifts so that you can live a life that is meaningful successful life.

Completion and fulfillment of the purpose for which you were created is the real KEY to Success.~Dr. Myles Munroe

  1. Sure we need to stir the pot.
Its funny how casually people treat their talents, forgetting that seeds not nurtured is not permitted to grow.
