Yes, I did mean self sabotage. Now before you roll your eyes at my audacity, just hear me out…abi read till the end. The dictionary defines sabotage as deliberately damaging or destroying something. So maybe sabotage is a strong word because I don’t think we do it to ourselves deliberately but sub consciously. On this fabulous Monday, this post is meant to get us noticing the signs and nipping the crap in the bud. Yes I said it..crap. The Bible tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. And the promises in my Bible are solid as a rock so yeah…those things that make us self sabotage our destinies are crap.
So what are some of the signs, well the biggest one is negative talk. phew I had to deal with this myself. My husband used to me on me like the cliche white on rice. But I was slick with mine…”Well, if I don’t get this, it’s okay, that doesn’t mean I don’t have faith o but if I don’t its okay” What kind of silly double talk is that? But many moons ago,I used to be chief in double talk. We can’t ask God to bless with our mouth but doubt in our heart.And we all do it. Bringing me to the next point.
Self pity and the woe is me syndrome: We find a hundred and one reasons why it cant work…”I don’t have this, I’m not yet there, if only I had that”…sound familiar.God doesn’t give you anything to waste, it will only be given to you according to your demand/need. Do you have that Zacheuas radical faith? The one that made him climb the tree?
After we have gotten over that, we now compare ourselves with others. You cannot compare your chapter one to someone’s chapter twenty. You cannot compare your unique gift with another’s. As our names are different, so are our callings. And once you walk into your calling, you are therefore qualified. So don’t ever let the enemy trick you into looking down on yourself because you haven’t measured up to others. You heard it before but I’m going to say it again. The only person you should be in competition with is YOU.
Get rid of everything that is holding you back. Wake up everyday and make a demand on life, a demand on your goals, a demand on your vision. Remember economics, in a controlled environment demand will equal supply. Don’t be afraid to demand more, because you’re not comfortable for what the process will bring.
In Joshua 10, Joshua was in battle and he told the men to bring out the kings and put their feet upon their necks. He didn’t kill them yet, just contained them in a cave. Your fears, doubts and self sabotage won’t disappear in a day, you’ll have to work on it as everybody does. Everybody had fears but courage is the ability to walk through it to your finish line. And you can!!!.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”~ Joshua 1:9

I needed the reminder about not comparing myself to others, especially when it comes to writing. It seems like so many authors are able to put out books much faster than me, and I found myself feeling bad that I can’t do the same. The Lord reminded me that I don’t need to worry about what everyone else is doing! I need to be focusing on my time management skills, organization, and seeking Him regarding my next project. Thank you for reading. I have to do that for me daily as a confirmation. We sign on to social media and see stuff that can make us doubt ourselves or second guess. For me staying on track is something I have to do daily.
