I asked Yet.. Part II

Proverbs 4:25-27 “Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.27 Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”

Amongst all the segments I write, this has to be the one dearest to my heart. This verse from Proverbs might sound like cliché to most especially when God hasn’t given you what you desire yet. O but how true it is, how true it is indeed. My mom has this saying that if you ask God for something and you keep worrying about it, that you are in essence taking it back from God and putting it on your plate. So here I was waiting, asking, sulking because God hasn’t come through yet. Wondering what else I needed to do to find favor with God on this issue? Time was not waiting and I had started to hear my own clock ticking and yet HE remained silent. Some days were good and some days were bad but the bottom line was that He hasn’t done what I wanted. I asked just like HE instructed, and I was promised I would receive. So here comes my first lesson: keeping my eyes stayed on HIM.

I’m sure am not alone in this, but there comes a time when we think God needs a little help in the right direction. So what I started to do was push God a little. You know do some of the work for HIM since HE probably didn’t know how much I wanted it. So I lowered my standards a little, ok if he doesn’t have everything on my list, yet believes in God then I will go for that at least I can change him when we finally get married. Did you notice how I jumped the gun there???? And don’t forget I was going to change him, now we will talk about that much later. Anyways let me tell you what happened. I used to be a go to work, church, movies, dinner and back home kind of girl. Well since God needed help I added the club, and other places to the list. I had to find him somehow. It worked!!! I found someone, and because I had my eyes off God and onto my mission, it was the most unfortunate encounter of my life here on earth.

He smelled of money (check), he quoted the bible (check), he dressed well (check) he was divorced (ok this was not on the list but half was better than none.) When you hear that even the devil can quote the bible it is so true. It started off nice and all, but when he didn’t get what he wanted, his temper was out of this world. And I would catch him in some lies that just didn’t make sense. Things began to unravel really quickly. As I am sure you are aware, we all have the Holy Spirit on the inside and our intimacy with God increases our ability to listen and be guided down the right path. That Holy Spirit kept gnawing at me, this wasn’t for me and right about now I didn’t care how loud the clock was ticking, so I decided to make a clean break. Here comes the nightmare, he didn’t take that lying down(no pun intended)……I was stalked, threatened, viciously lied upon with the intent of damaging an image I have worked so hard to build at work. As a girl living on her own, I was so scared that I got a restraining order, slept with a knife, and became quickly versed with Psalm 91.  Eventually by the special grace of God and a grueling 6 months later, he just disappeared. I mean just disappeared. Curious about his disappearance (but seriously grateful to God) I did a Google search, turns out he had been in jail multiple times for violent offences and was headed back.

Jesus sweet Jesus, If I had my eyes on HIM and doing what I was supposed to be doing while I waited, I wouldn’t have gone through this misfortune. But this just goes to show that He ALWAYS takes care of his own. All we have to do is keep our eyes stayed on him.

The story is not over yet……..

Be Blessed

    1. This was written at a time in my life when I was just so frustrated with everything. The bible does say that out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks (in this case my fingers). Glad you enjoyed it.Blessings.
