My Musings

You have the ball..

Have you ever wondered why it is that when things are going great, that’s when the devil rears his ugly head…and not in the form you will expect. I know its cliché to say that “God will never give you anything more than you can handle”…I get that but why is it that when it starts to rain, it pours and the more favored you are the heavier the rain is in your neck of the woods. It would sure be a good thing if when you are being tried that the trial s come one at a time, so you can deal with one the the other( sure would be nice wouldn’t it) . I have come to figure that with living it is a constant problem solving game. It just seems that with Christians the stakes in the game is higher. Show me a person who had no problem or care in the world and I will show you a corpse.

Take a look at the lives of the noble people in the bible that found favor with God, they always seemed to be in one situation or the other. Why is the devil always trying to attack people of God? Job, the faithful servant of God was just minding his business but not being satisfied Satan asked for permission to tempt him thinking that he would turn on God. He even had the nerve to tempt Christ? Just imagine the Christ!!  As faithful followers (not just church goers, there is a huge difference) we are bound to be tempted with things unimaginable that we begin to ask why? But then remember that Jesus instructed us to pick up our cross and follow him. Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” If our aim is to be lack luster Christians, with no real passion or desire to impact people with godly principles, then your sailing would be ‘eazy breezy’. However if in whatever you are doing, you do it as unto the Lord as in Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters”. Get ready, you will be attacked.

I grew up with four brothers, so I know my sports very well. Ironically I am married to a man who doesn’t really care about it….lol. When I was single I thought ok since I can tolerate and actually follow sports, when I get married we won’t fight over the remote much. That’s life, but anyways I digress, where I was going to with this is that in ANY sport, the only person that is being tackled is the one with the BALL.  You see all the other players on the team just running, but the opposition is only after the player that has the ball, there are not the least bit interested in those that don’t.  When we are living in purpose making an impact on people, serving God in spirit and in truth that is exactly who we are: the player with the BALL.  Trails and temptations will come to us from every angle, sickness, job loss, foreclosure, extended family issues, marriage attacks the list goes on and on 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to us all. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure.” Let’s dissect this, nothing absolutely nothing is happening or has happened to you that someone else isn’t going through, so when we cry why me? Just know that it’s not just you. But your God is faithful , so worthy of  our trust that He will not let us be tempted beyond our limits HOWEVER, when we are tempted( which we will be) He will always, always, always, provide a way for us to endure those temptations. Psalm 34:19 tells us that “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all”.

You are being attacked to distract you from your goal and why not? After all you have the BALL……

Be Blessed

  1. We are the clay in the potter’s hand, he will make you and mould you to what he wants (his will for you) not your will but if you insist, he will give you your will and still as a loving father, he will not give you more than you can bear. Unuoma keep this up! I’m proud of you!
