Meet Orefi Agada: A Woman Breaking Barriers in Legacy & Maybe Love?

Hey there!

March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the strength, resilience, and impact of women past and present. In my latest book, Threads of Destiny which releases Friday, 3/7/25, I wanted to explore the journey of a woman who isn’t just navigating an arranged alliance, but also power, responsibility, and the weight of legacy.

💡 Why I Wrote This Heroine
Orefi Agada isn’t your typical romance heroine. She’s a first-born daughter carrying the weight of family expectations in a world where men lead, and women follow…but she refuses to shrink. She’s bold, brilliant, and unapologetic in her pursuit of both love and success. Ps: I’m a first-born daughter of Nigerian parents. Did I have it as bad as Orefi? I plead the fifth! lol

🔥 What Makes Her Stand Out?

She challenges patriarchy. In family, business, and relationships…as you’ll get to find out.
She’s a powerhouse. But still vulnerable, still growing. Although letting go is hard.
She loves deeply. A fierce protector of her siblings…but love? Qadir is not to be played with, so I don’t know.

🔥Beyond the Boardroom: Orefi Unfiltered

Likes:
💼 Luxury with a purpose: She loves elegant fashion, but only if it makes a statement. Wearing power isn’t just about looking good—it’s about being unforgettable.
🍵 Late-night tea & quiet moments: After a long day of commanding boardrooms, she savors silence (a rare escape from the weight of expectations.)
💃 Dancing, but only in private: She used to love it. Now, it’s something she does alone, behind closed doors, when no one is watching.

Dislikes:
🗣 Being underestimated: Let me tell you, nothing fuels her more than a man assuming she doesn’t belong at the table.
🤝 Forced dependence: She’ll accept a partnership, never a rescue. Which is why marrying Qadir is a choice she still struggles to make peace with. And oh boy…does she struggle. LOL
⏳ Wasted time: If you don’t have a plan, don’t waste her time. Efficiency is a love language.

    Love this breakdown of Orefi!

There have been a lot of women that God has placed in my life at strategic points looking back that have influenced me. My mum being the first and then my aunts. But I also have some church moms and aunties who played a big part in who I am.

Women who inspire me: definitely my mother because of her faith in God, her resilience & her kindness towards everyone; also, my big sister. She’s pretty with a brilliant mind & knows it’s only because of God. I’m very biased, too!!

My mother too. Hands down. In this life or the next I would want to be her daughter. I pray she keeps resting in peace and is proud of me.
