Hey there!
Happy Father’s Day. I’d be remiss if I didn’t give you something highlighting the dads of the U. N Universe. Mustafa DuBois- Arazi is so asocial that he stays to himself. But he said something to me today that I’m sharing with you.
Mustafa DuBois-Arazi paced back and forth in the opulent upstairs living room of his London five-bedroom luxurious flat. The plush carpet under his feet and the intricate paintings on the walls did nothing to ease his frustration. He tossed his phone on the couch next to him. The almost life-sized painting of his almost one year old daughter, Jamila stared back at him. Her brown eyes and auburn curls she got from her mother, pierced his being. He longed to be back at his beloved Tweede Kans Cove with his family, but instead, he was stuck here overseeing critical business negotiations.
It was mid-morning and his assistant and house staff scurried around, trying desperately to calm him with updates and breakfasts. But Mustafa’s piercing gaze silenced anyone who dared approach. His thoughts churned, a storm of disappointment and anger brewing inside him. How could this happen on such an important day? His mind drifted to the devastation of spending his first Father’s Day alone. Without his wife, Zaina and without his daughter. The fact that he talked to them only once earlier, did nothing to sooth his mood.

A hesitant knock on the doorframe interrupted his brooding. One of the newly hired house staff nervously stepped forward, “Sir, there’s someone-“
Mustafa erupted in frustration. “I said no interruptions!” he bellowed, his voice echoing through the room. “Get out!”
The man retreated hastily, leaving Mustafa alone with his simmering anger. He resumed pacing, feeling weighed down by the missed celebration. He picked up the phone to call his wife again. Just then, the door creaked open again.
Zaina entered, her presence immediately calming the raging beast inside. She was a picture of elegance and composure, her serene demeanor a stark contrast to his agitation of moments ago. His eyes took her in, the nod of his head giving approval.
“Hello, my love,” Zaina’s voice was soothing, “I brought a–“
She looked behind her and her forehead creased. Before she could do anything else, a loud sequel echoed through the room. Jamila eagerly rushed forward with a handmade card and small gift in hand.
“Fa…Father’s Day, Baba!” she exclaimed with glee.
Mustafa’s stern expression softened as he knelt to embrace his daughter. They had been here many times before, so she probably escaped her mother to check out her room. His daughter’s warmth and love melted away the icy frustration in his heart. He took the card from her tiny hands and opened it, revealing colorful drawings and a heartfelt message on the page. His eyes glistened with tears, and he looked up at his wife who he knew helped to write the message. He read Jamila’s words of love and appreciation.

“We couldn’t let you spend Father’s Day alone,” Zaina said, stepping closer. “So, we came to you.”
The realization hit Mustafa with a wave of gratitude. Despite the circumstances, they had found a way to be together. He stood, pulling Zaina into a warm embrace, his anger long gone as he captured her lips in an earth-shattering kiss. He expressed the gratitude he couldn’t adequately voice the only way he knew how. In that moment, nothing else mattered to him.
“habib albi, I love you deeply,” he confessed.
“I know.”
“Baba! Me…me.” Jamila stomped her feet and tugged his jeans.
“Oh jeez. Play with your daughter while I go call my dad. I love you, Musa. Happy Father’s Day.”
“Thank you, habib albi” he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. “This means more than you’ll ever know.”

My man Musa! The man has the heart of an iceberg – but even icebergs will melt. I’m mushing right along with him. Cute baby photo too.
