Game of Two Halves: Exploring Art, Resilience, and Yinka’s Insights

1–2 minutes

Hey there! So… there’s a scene in Game of Two Halves where Yinka our FMC and another U.N Universe favorite (I don’t wanna give away spoilers) are talking about a painting. When Yinka went home that night, she researched the painting. The artist’s initials, JDK, led her to Jidenna Kalu’s JDK Studios.

———————————————————————–

“This must be one of his earlier works, because he’s known mainly for sculptures,” I murmured to myself as I stared at a version of the painting I found in an online article. I had to capture my thoughts, opening my “Book of Possibilities”, I wrote….

...In a world where the sea and sky danced in tempestuous harmony, there stood a black middle-aged woman—a beacon of determination and resilience. Her gaze, unwavering, fixed upon the distant horizon, as if challenging the very elements that threatened her existence. The canvas came alive with dark blue and grey swirls, each stroke echoing the turbulence of the sea and the tumultuous sky. The waves crashed against the rugged cliff, their fury a stark contrast to the woman's serene presence. She was a silhouette against the chaos, her skin kissed by salt and wind.
But it was her inner light that captivated the viewer—a soft, ethereal glow that defied the storm. Perhaps she carried the wisdom of countless tides within her, or maybe her spirit was forged in the crucible of adversity. Her resilience was palpable, a force that held her steady even as the world threatened to swallow her whole.
And so, the painting whispered secrets of survival—the quiet strength found in vulnerability, the beauty of standing firm when everything else crumbled. The woman became a symbol—an embodiment of courage, facing danger head-on, unyielding. Her story universal—a reminder that we are all cliffs, battered by life, yet standing tall...Y.E.M

I’d love to hear your thoughts about the painting & Yinka’s summarization.

Love this reflection on the art piece! And knowing the artist and the kind of thinker he is, I know lots of thought went into that piece.
For me a piece like this would remind me that I can only face such seeming turmoil only with God’s help and guidance!

You’re so right. I think Yinka came to that conclusion too after seeing the painting. Thanks, lady, for stopping by
