Good Morning Lovlies…

Col 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

My List Lord..Part 1

Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

I had it all figured out, where he would be from, how tall he should be, how he should speak and he got to have a job. He should not be too light or dark in complexion, he can’t have any kids and must reside where I reside…absolutely no long distance relationship.  Hearing me talk, you would think I had total control over everything.   But the time was ticking because as a Naija (slag name for Nigeria) babe, I had a ‘specific’ time in which I had to be married and furthermore the kids had to start rolling in as the ‘grandkids’ already had potential names  even down to the nicknames.

Everyone around me was getting married, and although I was happy for them (I strongly believe that when you are GENIUNELY happy for others, God is working behind the scenes), I wanted to be the one in the spotlight, I wanted to have someone to come home to at night, someone to share the good the bad and the ugly, to make me laugh and share happy times. Please hear me loud and clear, I wasn’t looking for someone to make me happy, but someone to share happiness with, there is a HUGE difference. Despite what the extremist say women were created to have and need a man as a mate and companion. It’s there in the scripture “..….your desire will be for your husband…”(Gen 3:16).

So here I was in diaspora, with a slamming job, a solid education, a house, a car and a few bucks in the bank but I still had that one unfulfilled desire –a HUSBAND. Although the need was great I wasn’t going to settle for less than I deserve and he must fit my list to a ‘T’- no exceptions.  Days turned into weeks, weeks to months, then years, the clock was ticking and my MR. PERFECT had’nt surfaced yet. During this period the Lord taught me many lesson, follow me as I share, lesson learned and chronicle my journey as a single sistah!

Be Blessed

Thanking Him Right Now..

Lord Jesus, thank you for what you have already in my life, I’m not going to wait until I see results or receive awards

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better;

 I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me;

 I am thanking you right now.

 I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears;

 I am thanking you right now.

 I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves;

I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet;

I am going to thank you right now.

 I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job;

I am going to thank you right now.

I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief;

I am thanking you right now.

I am not going wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed,

 I am thanking you right now.

I am thanking you because I am alive.  I am thanking you because I made it through the days of difficulties.  I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.  I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do better.  I am thanking you just because of who YOU are.

Where has Thanksgiving Gone?

1 Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

In the US, this week is the beginning of the Thanksgiving week. It’s that time of the year that the country sets aside to give “thanks”. It always falls on the third Thursday in November.. It’s normally marked with the hustle and bustle of shopping, preparing the menu for family and friends, making travel arrangements and most importantly strategizing for ‘Black Friday” sales. In more recent years the sales begin that same day; Thursday. So the turkey hasn’t had time to digest and we are out trying to get in on all the deals available.

The holiday in and of itself is a wonderful idea, but truth be told, it is getting lost in all the little things that don’t matter. Not that I’m am advocating giving thanks on one designated day of the year, however even this day is getting lost in all the commercialization. There used to be a time when Christmas decorations won’t be put up till after thanksgiving but now it’s being put up right after Halloween. Businesses used to pride themselves in being closed on Thanksgiving Day so that their employees could enjoy the day with family, now they open earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving Day to lure people in for the much desired sales.

So I began to wonder, where has Thanksgiving gone?

 Anyway, as Christians or just human beings we should make thanksgiving an everyday ritual.  For the air we breathe, the food we eat, the mercies renewed, the blood of Jesus that was shed, the grace we live under are all reasons to say Thank You every day of our lives. The things we take for granted are the same things others will do anything to have. If we dwell in our bad circumstances, we will miss it. Besides there is always someone going through something worse. Just because of whom He is. Let’s resolve to thank Him now and everyday regardless of what we are going through.

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.  ~Cynthia Ozick
