Wife, Mom, Author & Entrepreneur. Navigating my imperfect life while serving a perfect God

His Masterpiece

Good Morning ! It’s another day and I will rejoice and be glad in it!.  Alarm went off  right at 5am, some days im lazy and  don’t get up when I should. I hit that snooze button  and turn over,  I finally wake up all I have time for is a short prayer  and praise while I jump right into the day.

This morning however I was determined not to let that happen as I have missed two mornings already. And although I get to commune with Him through out the day, that morning quiet time is the stuff!! Haha, anyways I read the first  book of Jeremiah today,  I must have read it before during one of my stints at reading the whole bible, but as we know there is a difference between reading and understanding.

This book focuses on the call of Jeremiah, God speaking to him and telling him that before he was formed He( God ) knew him.  God was basically telling Jeremiah all these things He wanted him to do. Things he has specifically made Him for. I guess the task frightened Jeremiah  so he made an excuse of being young. God countered by telling Him not to be afraid and proceeded  to sanctify his mouth and sight, empowering  him to carry out the assignment. We all know how great a prophet Jeremiah became.

I was siked when I hit the road this morning.  Jer 1vs 8 “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord” kept ringing in my head.  What is that thing you feel God has called you to do? Are you afraid to make the first step? If you have found that thing, have you put God first every step of the way?  Do you think of what others might say?

For me, I have always wanted to author a book, but there were so many excuses I came up with as to why I couldn’t. Then I finally got down to it but didn’t commit the process to God so I struggled… Now I have surrendered it to God, allowing Him to lead me along the way and it’s coming along fine.  And when I get weary during the process,  I remember God’s promises “See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”~ Jer 1vs10.

With confidence and humility, I will fulfil my God-given destiny…I might fall along the way but God has promised He will never leave my side.

Be Blessed…

Mine is not good enough…

John 3:27 “To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.”

I will be the first to admit that this ‘purpose’ talk is  possibly the most common topic in recent times. I don’t know if it has to do with the times but everyone is talking about your passion, your purpose, calling, gift whatever you want to call it…but its that thing  God has sent you to do.  Everyone has a calling but like my Pastor said, not everyone will get to fulfill it. In no way do I pretend to know all the answers, sometimes I still don’t think I have found it.  So I’m not even going to talk about how to find it.. however I think the reason we fail to fulfill our God given destiny is because we either don’t recognize our calling or that we are too busy pursuing someone else’s calling which is the  the wrong one.

Got back from church this afternoon and turned on the TV to see that Tinker Bell was on.  Yep my TV is permanently tuned to Disney or Nickelodeon, when you have a four and two year old that’s just the way it is. Ok I digress, I have watched this particular Tinker Bell movie so many times, but today I saw it differently.  You see Tinker was not happy that she was a Tinker fairy who only fixed things, her one desire was to go to the mainland which Tinker fairies where not allowed to do. The whole movie was about her trying to learn everyone else’s gift,  while despising the one she was given. In the process she caused  a lot of havoc . In the end however with all Disney Stories she learnt her lesson and the same talent she spent the whole movie trying to deny was what made everything all better.

Sometimes this same thing happens to us. We don’t value what we have. We always wants what the other person has. We compare ourselves unnecessarily to others. We only see what they want us to see so we end up putting undue stress on ourselves and anyone in our path to meet up to something that you do not understand because you are an outsider looking in. One thing I have learnt is that people are always ready to share their mountains and not their valleys.

We are all made unique in His likeness and image, given our own special gifts. Our mission on earth should be to discover it and use it in service to God. It can be in the little things, it must not always be a big event. Make it a habit to be the best you, you can be with what you have. Until you discover that what your gift is, be faithful where you are with a good heart. There in lies true happiness, and when we are happy  in the now, we open up the space to receive unexpected blessings

1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”

Be Blessed,

Who Are You?

Isaiah 30:15 “This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation,  in quietness and trust is your strength”

Normally, at this time of the year, we reflect on the happenings of the year, and plans are being made on the year ahead. For me,  things were rough but in all things I’m thankful that He kept me and gave me the grace to pull through. I am not for one minute going to sit here and pretend it was all good, and whatever trials or temptations came my way I was strong and stayed in faith all through. That would be a lie.

Last December, I lost a dear friend and sister who was an angel on earth to me and countless of those who knew her. Come January I lost my father in law and an uncle within weeks of each other and since then it has just been one thing after the other. Lost two cousins to childbirth and the most  astonishing of all was that I found myself hospitalized for seven days just out of nowhere. Got on a plane for a business trip and was carried off on a stretcher, to the emergency room and a stint in the ICU. It totally caught me by surprise.

Through all this I started to run from God, why would these things be happening? The temptation and trials were becoming unbearable. I was mad at my God. I used to wake up everyday for a couple of weeks, acknowledge Him because He was God but that will be it. The talks we used to have during the day was non-existent. I started to doubt who I was in Christ Jesus. If He loved me that much they why?? The one day it dawned on me, there had to be a reason that out of everything that happened around me, I’m still here. He never promised me I will be free of trials but He promised me I will overcome.

Sometimes the temptation of the devil is more subtle. He uses our weaknesses, wants  or down times to plant  negative thoughts in our mind. Often times when we are in our mess, we begin to lose confidence in ourselves and the promises of God. We do not fight the lies of the devil with the weapons of warfare we have been given. During His time in the desert, that joker Satan tried the same thing on Jesus …”.if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones turn to bread”~ Mathew 4:3 . He knew Jesus was hungry and tried to get Him to prove himself. As Christians we will have those friends, family members, people in our life who will make us question who we are because of our external circumstance.

The only way to come against such attack or temptation is by meditating and standing on the promises of God. Once we know who we are there is no need to waiver. Keep your head held high as we are overcomes through Christ Jesus. By the way to be overcomers, we have to have something to overcome right.?

I have overcome quite a bit this year as I’m sure some of you have as well. In everything we give thanks. What didn’t kill us will only make us stronger. Amen

Be Blessed

My Secret Place

Isaiah 45:3 “I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name”

OK, what  I now want to know is how to get  to this secret place where my riches are. How do I get to the place where all my issues will be a thing of the past? If you were given a clear road map to what the future holds do you think you can handle it?? Have you ever wondered why the Lord does not just say “ Ok my child, make sure you go to X school and marry Mr. D and not Mr. E, when Boss Z denies your promotion don’t worry I’m sending Mrs. B who will double the promotion. If your child gets sick today don’t worry tomorrow at exactly 2.06pm, the sickness will disappear and if you lose your present house, in exactly 4wks you will get another one. And at exactly 55 you will come join me..……Scary right?……

Being as honest as I can be I know that I will not be able to handle it…and I know that God knows it too simply because He made us and knows the havoc it would create if we had a clear road map. Instead he gives us this life and a promise that our riches are located in secret places but how do we find this secret place is the big question. We sometimes spend so much time in the quest for prosperity, this is fed by the times and the fact that most of the “gospel” preached lately is only about prosperity and not about living for Christ and preparing for His return. We are so caught up in the final destination without savoring the journey and taking lessons from our experiences.

For anything to be beautiful it has to go through a process, a house gets built by hammering one part into the other until the whole house it done. So also pottery, it has to go through fire to turn out gorgeous.  If we are not willing to go through the process how do we get beautiful results? How do we get to our secret place where our riches abound? To where He has promised that we will know He has called us by name? Psalm 91 vs 1 saysWhoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Then the rest of the Psalm tell us of the benefits of being in the shelter of the Almighty….To dwell means to live/be a permanent resident of somewhere, therefore putting Isaiah 45 and Psalm 91 together obviously my secret place where riches abound is not a straight road map to a problem free life but the assurance that once my primary focus is to seek Him in all His righteousness He will direct my path so that the riches will come to me, but I have to be in the dwelling of the most High.

So now I have a whole new appreciation for Romans 8:28 that says all things works together for the good of those that love the Lord AND are called according to His Purpose. Loving Him is just not enough you have to make sure you are living in purpose for there lays the path to your secret place where your riches abound.

With this knowledge I now know that my yes(s) are great but my no(s) are also good! My approvals are great so are my denials! If I get the contract is all good if I don’t it’s good as well! If I get the house its good if I don’t its good as well! If I get the husband it’s all good if I don’t it’s good as well! If I’m bad mouthed it’s all good if I’m praised its good as well! Before any great piece of work can be set free it has to be tested so all my trials, joy, pain, hardships are all tests and part of the process to bringing me closer to my secret place and where my riches abound. I am confident (hope) of this because my dwelling place is under the shelter of the Most High!!

Be Blessed
