The Writing Journey

Big or Small…It’s Your Voice.

voiceHey there!

If you have been following this blog for a while, you’d know that it was a unexpected stint in the hospital that got me to use the gift God had given me to honor Him. I knew I could write…I mean I had a blog that was two years old and thriving. But I didn’t believe that I could craft a book. I am an avid reader, so when I read the words of others I kinda second guess myself a lot. So fear was a huge factor in my unwillingness to step outside my comfort zone.

Then all of a sudden I let go you know the story, if you don’t read it here…anyway I’m now on my second novel and numerous short stories later and I have to say sometimes I still struggle with the little voice that says “Is this piece good enough” You know that fear that always rears it’s ugly head. I am becoming more confident as I hone my craft and lean on God but I say all this to say…

You are unique. You have a voice. You matter. It may not be a big voice but it matters. Whether you want to write or start a business or do something that you have been hesitant to do. Just do it! If you fail try again but don’t silence your voice because you think its not good enough.

Before I sat down to type this, I got an email from one of my mentors,  I sent her my new novel. You see I was on pins and needles all week… This was what she thought…

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so juicy. Unoma, don’t under estimate your talent. Walk with an ear to hear God’s voice and let Him guide you and you will be blessed among authors.  Amen.

My stories might not be the most unique cos hey I write romance…how many ways can a boy meet girl story go but my stories have one thing in common…they are written by me, my voice, my brand.

Ephesians 3:12~Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence

Blessings

Unoma

  1. thanks for sharing. we writers are always plagued with self doubt…we want to be spectacular so much that we forget to be unique…to allow ourselves to shine through the story…

yes, our voice may be small but it is never not good enough…and we also strive for excellence as we go.. wanting to be the best that we can be and to best only ourselves…

  2. Thank you for this post.. Self-doubt is one of the biggets barriers to achieving one’s potential.
I can’t deny that as a blogger, often there’s always that voice that says – Is it good enough, what are you writing? Why should people read? lol.. But I thank God for your post – it’s uniquely mine.. God bless you xx

    1. Thanks for stopping by my blog. You are so correct. Fear is a huge deterrent to us stepping outside or comfort zones or staying out once we have made it there. I have to remind myself daily that with God by my side anything is possible. I like that “uniquely mine”
