My Musings

No Shaking

hoppeAn anchor secures/ moors the vessel to the sea bottom. When the anchor is firmly placed the ship doesn’t sway about with no direction. The captain of the ship is rest assured that no matter the wind or wave that may come that direction. The ship will stay put. My people will say…No shaking!

So I’ve been spending a lot of time in Hebrews lately. This morning my reading took me to chapter 6.

I read and re read the chapter probably about three times, I really wanted to digest and fully comprehend what was being said. My attention stayed focused on verse 7 & 8

Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

These verses really sunk in. I know that I, like many Christians are constantly drinking of the rain that has been poured upon us by the salvation of Christ. But are we striving to produce fruit/crop? I saw a quote from Rick Warren yesterday that addressed this perfectly…

Anytime you’re using your talents and gifts to help or inspire others you’re ministering. ~Rick Warren. Leave the pulpit mentality alone.

We must not be in a visible area to be able to live a life on purpose, producing fruit in the way we can with the rain that has been poured on us.Just like the fig tree, we must bear fruit less we be cursed. But that’s not all…verse 11 & 12 clenched the above perfectly for me.

We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

In our journey towards producing the fruit we are supposed to ( our ministries) whatever it may be, big or small. There will be times when we meet obstacles. This that will cause us to grow weary or want to give up but something I’ve read and seen a lot lately is persistence & faith. We must keep pressing in order for the promises of God to be revealed.

Hope that His words will surely come to pass should be the anchor for your soul. Just as it was for Abraham and all the others we have read about in the word. He is the same God yesterday, today and forevermore.

Consistency under pressure is key. We must continue to be obedient in suffering with hope as our anchor, no matter what comes out way, we are able to say “No shaking at all.” God’s got it!

Blessings.
